| About the "Nevel" The Nevel is the 10 string lyre referred to in Psalm 144 Verse 9. The Nevel is usually a wood or clay vessel with two arms that reach to a center pole that strings connect to. The body of the instrument has a skin membrane or other thin material to reproduce the sound and has a bridge that transmits the sound to this diaphragm. It is not to be confused with the Kinnor, another biblical lyre. The Kinnor originally had seven or eight strings and usually and all wood body. Note: The term harp has been used in many translations, although incorrectly used. A harp has strings that are perpendicular to the soundbox. A lyre has strings that are parallel to the soundbox. Note: Another instrument company: Jubilee-Harps makes biblical Kinnors, it is not affiliated with Jubilee Music Instrument Co. Both business happened to have started in 1998, which is considered to be the year of Jubilee to some.
